Rites of Passage

As a Church in the local Community we play an active part in enabling people to participate in rites of passages services. We do not preclude anyone from accessing these services as we believe that they provide an opportunity for engagement in a families life by the Church and for God, through his Holy Spirit to work through the situations and reveal himself to people.

In terms of services relating to children, we offer the full range of provision from Dedications, to Infant Baptisms. Dedications are provided for all children for whom it is requested and take the form of a naming service and an opportunity to thank God for the gift of a life. This is open to children of all ages and indeed, even adults occasionally request it for themselves. We only offer Infant Baptism if the family involved are Christians and as such provide the opportunity for the child to be baptised into the family of God.

Adult baptism is provided following a short course explaining what is to occur and is provided for adults who wish to make a public demonstration of their faith and decision to follow Jesus Christ.

As a local community church, weddings and funerals form a part of the life of the community and are therefore something we are involved in. It is a privilege to participate in both services and to be trusted to be the person to whom the family turn both at times of joy and also times of sadness and grieving. They provide an opportunity for the Church to draw close to a family and to create an environment in which God can speak to people as they acknowledge his involvement in their lives.
